Okume (Marine) Plywood: Features and Applications
Okume marine plywood is a lightweight, water-resistant plywood made from thin layers of African Okume wood (Aucoumea klaineana) cross-laminated with phenolic resin (WBP). Ideal for boat, shipbuilding, exterior and wet-area applications. Its lightness ensures easy handling, while phenolic resin production provides superior water and moisture resistance.
What is Okume Marine Plywood?
Thin veneers of Okume wood are bonded with phenolic resin and cross-laminated in odd-layer configuration. Each panel’s surface fibers align in the same direction to ensure symmetry and high dimensional stability.
